Allegany County detention officer Tim Porter dies; detention center fundraising underway

Unidentified Speaker (S4) told commissioners of the recent death of Tim Porter, a correctional officer at the county detention center, and said the detention center is organizing fundraising to help his family. "Tim Porter was the correctional officer, at the detention center. He had been ill and, unfortunately passed away this week," S4 said.

S4 described Porter as "fairly young" and said he leaves two very young children; staff are running fundraising events and a raffle and will circulate information to commissioners and colleagues. "There's a raffle that, we're doing right now. Tiffany actually has tickets... She's actually, sitting at the front desk tonight until after the meeting," S4 said.

Commissioners expressed condolences and asked staff to re-send fundraising information; staff agreed to circulate details by email and indicated they would assist the family through the raffle and other events.
