Commissioners form working group to review signature verification and request Act 136 report

Commissioners agreed to form a working group — repeatedly referred to in the meeting transcript as a "pig" — to examine signature verification procedures and related documentation.

Speaker 5 (identified in the meeting as Ralph) moved to place a signature-verification pig on the next meeting agenda: "I move to form a pig on the signature verification for next meeting," he said. Commissioners discussed membership and Speaker 3 confirmed the initial membership as Commissioner Apano, Commissioner Sebas and Speaker 3 (Dylan), with the option to invite Jen Hunt and Junior Nacoa to participate in discussions.

The working group was proposed alongside other follow-ups the commission requested for the next agenda: an update on motions arising from Doug Pasek's complaint and the Office of Elections' legislative agenda and pledge package. Speaker 5 also asked for the Act 136 'elections by mail' report that Scott and Nago were expected to produce for 2025, noting the commission has not yet seen that report.

Commissioners also asked staff to bring cost information for 'Eric' to the next meeting and to place reevaluation of the chief election officer (a relief requested in Jamie Detweiler’s formal complaint) on the next agenda; the reevaluation could not be added to the current meeting because of Sunshine Law constraints. No formal vote was recorded to adopt the group's charter at this meeting; participants agreed the item would appear on the next formal agenda.
