The Vernon Town Council approved routine consent items on Nov. 18, including six tax refunds totaling $911.57 and the disposal of fixed assets for the Vernon Board of Education.
Terry, the town collector of revenue, moved the tax refund item and the council approved it unanimously. The refunds are the six individual items detailed in a memorandum to Town Administrator John Kleinhans.
The council also approved an annual list of school fixed assets marked for disposal. Staff described the process: items first are offered to other town departments, then sent to auction or scrapped; hard drives are removed and destroyed when applicable and proceeds go to the general fund. Council members asked about potential proceeds; staff said amounts are typically small (for many computers $100–$200, occasionally a few thousand for larger vehicles) and noted proceeds go back to the town's general fund.
A budget amendment packet for year ending 2025 (items 22–25) was pulled for separate handling and not voted on as presented.
Minutes from the previous meeting were waived and approved unanimously before adjournment.
