The Boynton Beach City Commission on Tuesday approved several legislative and routine measures in a single meeting: a zoning code amendment, the city’s five‑year capital improvement program on first reading, appointment confirmations and routine consent items.
Ordinance 25‑045 (first reading) amends the Infill Planned Unit Development (IPUD) zoning district to reaffirm its residential character by removing marina/private yacht club as an allowed principal use. Kevin Fisher, planning and zoning division director, said the change responds to 2023 amendments to state law (the Live Local Act) that could otherwise allow higher‑density projects in flexible districts. The measure passed on a unanimous roll call.
The commission also approved Ordinance 25‑046 on first reading, formally adopting the city’s five‑year capital improvement program for fiscal years 2026–2030; staff said the ordinance codifies a plan already adopted through the budget process.
On advisory appointments, the commission unanimously approved Ariela Tenenbaum as a student member of the Education & Youth Advisory Board and appointed Deborah Tarka to the Community Redevelopment Agency Board. The commission also approved the consent agenda and voted to cancel the Jan. 6, 2026 commission meeting.
Votes at a glance: IPUD amendment (Ordinance 25‑045) — approved on first reading (unanimous); 5‑year CIP (Ordinance 25‑046) — approved on first reading (unanimous); Ariela Tenenbaum appointment — approved (unanimous); Deborah Tarka appointment — approved (unanimous); consent agenda — approved (unanimous).
