The Selma City Council unanimously approved Resolution 2025-128 on Dec. 2 to authorize procurement of five patrol units for the Selma Police Department through Enterprise Fleet and to amend the FY 2025–26 budget to cover additional costs. Police Chief Alcaraz said the order includes one K-9 vehicle that requires more expensive outfitting, which prompted the requested $10,000 amendment.
Chief Alcaraz said the vehicles will be procured through Selma Dodge and then taken by Enterprise for upfitting. “They will be delivered here,” he said when asked whether sales tax revenue returns to the city. The vehicles will be local deliveries, which the chief said will generate local sales taxes upon receipt.
Council members thanked the chief for coordinating locally and voted to approve the procurement and budget amendment on a roll-call vote; all present voted yes.
What’s next: Staff will finalize the lease/purchase through Enterprise and coordinate delivery and upfitting. The amended budget will reflect the $10,000 change for outfitting the K-9 vehicle.
