Eddie Lynn was sworn in as a Seattle City Councilmember for District 2 during the Dec. 2 council meeting, where Yvette de la Cruz administered the oath of office. Lynn formally pledged to uphold the U.S. and Washington constitutions along with the Seattle City Charter and municipal code.
Lynn used his remarks to thank voters and supporters, recall growing up in Durham, North Carolina, and to outline community-focused priorities including safer streets, more affordable family-sized housing, expanded transit access and climate resilience. He cited the importance of community organizations and youth leadership and invited attendees to a post‑meeting reception.
The swearing-in followed the council’s roll call and a short biography read during the ceremony. Lynn emphasized both personal experiences and longstanding community challenges—highlighting homelessness, child-care costs and the need for culturally grounded neighborhood supports.
