Planning staff informed the commission of two administrative approvals and provided a brief status report on the city’s master plan update.

Staff described one approval as a change of use for Das Velo Service & Cafe at 13631 West 11 Mile Road, a retail bicycle sales and repair business that will include a small cafe serving beverages and pastries. Staff also said an event rental business that rents tables, chairs and tents has relocated from Ferndale to Oak Park and was granted administrative approval. Both items were characterized by staff as administrative change-of-use approvals that did not require a full public hearing.

Staff also updated commissioners on the master plan process, saying the city council awarded the contract to "Giffords Webster" and that the update is expected to take about 12 months. Staff said they would reach out to schedule meetings with the planning commission as part of that process.

No formal motions or votes were required for the administrative approvals; the master plan briefing is a status report and staff will return with additional materials as the consultant work proceeds.
