La Grange Park officials said Tuesday that the village has completed a multi-year revision of its Emergency Operations Plan and published the document in a regional, cloud-based system.
Village Manager Julia told trustees the village worked with Integrated Consulting Solutions and the Cook County Department of Emergency Management to update the EOP. "As of today, the plan is active," Julia said, noting the fire chief formally published and authorized the plan in the Cook County Knowledge Management System.
The update is the first comprehensive overhaul since 2007, according to Julia. She said staff will distribute credentials so village officials and staff can access the plan in KMS and that the village plans follow-up meetings to review emergency management operations and capacities.
Trustees and staff praised the work. The village said the revisions were made in accordance with requirements in the Illinois Emergency Management Act and with input from the fire department and other staff.
Officials said the next steps include granting access to the EOP in KMS, scheduling reviews for the board and staff, and maintaining the plan as a living document for future emergencies. Fire Chief Dean Magus and the consulting firm were specifically thanked for their roles in completing the update.
The board offered no formal vote on the EOP at the meeting; the item was presented as an important operational update, and staff characterized the completion as a milestone for village emergency preparedness.
