La Grange Park trustees voted unanimously Tuesday to adopt an Americans with Disabilities Act transition plan for public sidewalks, paving the way for prioritized sidewalk improvements and future budgeting.
Trustee (speaker 8) summarized the plan work supported by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and Oates Associates, noting a village-wide self-evaluation, community engagement and a prioritization map that informed the final plan. "Staff recommends approval of the ADA transition plan," the trustee said before making the motion.
Consultants Trevin Travis Hellkamp (Oates) and Steven Ostrander (CMAP) were introduced and thanked for their work. Trustee Wagner, speaking for the finance committee, said adoption does not obligate the village to immediate spending but will be a "big item of discussion" during the 2026–27 budgeting process.
Staff said the plan followed a 30-day public comment period that began Oct. 21 and that all comments were reviewed for inclusion. The adopted resolution directs staff to integrate the plan into the village's project prioritization and to return to the board with potential funding options during the budget process.
The resolution passed on a unanimous roll call. Trustees and staff described the effort as a step toward improving accessibility across sidewalks, curb ramps, crosswalks, transit stops and other public facilities.
