Tom Wormley, the applicant for variance 58V25, told the Hubbard County Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment he needs permission to place a drain field within the 150‑foot ordinary high‑water (OHW) setback on West Crooked Lake because two wetlands limit suitable locations. "Looking for permission to put in a drain field," Wormley said.
Board members and staff said lot views and the site’s topography supported the request. Veronica, citing the staff report, said the property contains two large wetland areas and steep slopes that make the proposed location the most appropriate. Chair Larry noted on the lot view that "you've done everything you can to put this where it needs to be" and said he supported the variance.
Larry moved to accept the variance and staff findings; Mike seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously in favor. The motion adopted staff findings of fact for a conditional use of the shoreline setback due to the property’s unique constraints.
No public comment was offered during the hearing on this item. The board took the final vote and approved variance 58V25, allowing the drain field placement as described by the applicant. The board did not attach additional conditions beyond adopting staff findings.
