Police Chief Mills and District Chief Nickel delivered monthly public-safety reports to council highlighting training, community engagement and new programs.

Chief Mills reported that officers completed department training in less-lethal tactics and anti-bias and ethics training; Sergeant Dennis passed a required examination and became the only full-time member of the department’s drone team. Detectives partnered with Kroger for a drug take-back during the month, and the department staffed several trunk-or-treat events for Halloween. Chief Mills announced the department’s "Shop with a Hero" is scheduled for Dec. 10 at Target, beginning at 6 p.m. He also described Milford’s participation in a county "blue envelope" program intended to help people with communication or developmental disabilities indicate specific needs to responding officers.

District Chief Nickel reported the Milford Fire Department partnered with Miami and Goshen departments and local businesses for a large food drive on Nov. 12 that yielded multiple pallets of food for Clermont County food banks. Nickel added that an 80-hour fire safety inspector course completed today will increase the number of qualified inspectors available in the county.
