County growth-management staff reported progress on the Saint Mary's 2050 comprehensive-plan update and signaled an upcoming focus on hazard mitigation in the plan process.

A staff member identified as Lenny said planning commission work sessions are reviewing early, rough draft text for different plan components. He said next week's work session will cover environmental resources, hazard mitigation and vulnerability, and that sessions will be live-streamed or available for later viewing. Lenny said the first full draft of the comprehensive plan is scheduled for release in February 2026.

The board was encouraged to review or view the sessions; no formal action was taken during this meeting to change deadlines or to approve drafts. The chair separately noted that the board's annual report will be drafted after year-end and circulated for comment before being presented at the Feb. 18, 2026 meeting.

The planning process will include additional public and commission review before any policy decisions are made.
