The Lyons Twp HSD 204 Board of Education approved a tentative 2025 tax levy as presented, adopting a proposed total levy of $89,045,667 — an increase of $3,650,000, or roughly 4.28% over the prior year. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with all trustees voting 'Yes.'

Business/finance presenter Brian Stacia walked trustees through the levy spreadsheet and several fund-level figures, including an education fund and an operations and maintenance (O&M) fund. He explained that the district’s allowable increase is tied to last December’s consumer price index (2.9%), but that the inclusion of approximately $60,000,000 of new property in the district's base pushed the overall proposed levy increase to 4.28. Stacia also noted a revised bond-and-interest levy figure and said he will file both the tentative levy and a supplemental levy for bond-and-interest with the county in December.

Because the proposed increase is below the 5% statutory threshold that triggers an automatic truth-in-taxation hearing, a hearing is not strictly required. Stacia said the district nonetheless plans to hold a public hearing in December and will advertise the hearing in the newspaper and on the district website at least seven days before the final-adoption meeting. The board voted to approve the tentative levy and will adopt final levy figures at the December regular meeting once Cook County provides final numbers.
