The Northampton School Committee unanimously accepted a $20,336.93 donation from the Northampton Education Foundation (NEF) at its Nov. 13 meeting.

Dale West presented the gift, which NEF officials said would be used to purchase books, digital subscriptions and other reading‑support materials for district classrooms and libraries. West said the additional funds came from city census mailing revenue and NEF’s plant sale; he noted the donation was larger than the prior year’s contribution.

Member Hennessy moved to accept the donation, Member Davis seconded, and the committee approved the motion by roll call. Several members thanked NEF for longstanding support of school librarians and educators.

"We are so grateful to NEF," Member Agna said during discussion.

Next step: administration will incorporate the donation into school budgets and coordinate with librarians on purchases.
