Dr. Streeter also presented Tina Pattingale with the district’s "Legendary Teacher" tribute, a recognition established in 2014 that highlights educators who build relationships, engage students and maintain high expectations. A former student, Kiara Early, nominated Pattingale and provided written remarks read by district staff emphasizing the teacher’s classroom impact.
During public comment, a representative of the Marana Education Association (MEA) briefed the board on the association’s holiday food drive running Nov. 3 through Dec. 18. The MEA speaker said donations will be collected for three local food banks that serve Marana families and listed commonly needed items; donated items may be dropped off at district school sites with an MEA representative.
The recognitions were met with applause from the board and audience; the board then proceeded to the business agenda.
