District hears progress report on intermediate addition and reroof projects

Contractors and architects updated the Siloam Springs School District Board on construction at the intermediate campus and districtwide reroofing work during the Nov. 1 meeting.
Christian Salazar of CR Crawford said roof structure, decking and much of the masonry and framing for the intermediate addition were completed and that mechanical, electrical and plumbing trades would begin in-wall and above-ceiling rough-ins the week of the 17th. "So we're still looking like we're on schedule," Salazar said, noting canopy manufacture and installation were the key near-term items.
Architect Mike Spates reviewed photos comparing areas requiring full reroof removal to completed sections. He estimated the intermediate project about 75% complete, Allen Elementary roughly 30% complete and Southside not yet started. Spates described completion steps that include inspections, drywall, storefront installs and finish-site concrete as crews begin to wrap up exterior work.
Finance staff said the reroof work has generated insurance proceeds that temporarily make the repair budget look negative on the ledger until repairs are processed and costs reallocate.
No budget overrun was reported; the contractors and district said the projects remain on schedule and on budget as of the update.
