Directors from Sumner County libraries used the Nov. meeting to highlight community outreach, programs and operational needs.
Hendersonville director Gabby reported high participation in Trick-or-Treat on the Square with more than 1,200 children and families and invited board members to the library’s Christmas open house on Dec. 11. McKinseyville’s director said October included dozens of programs, 331 new card applications and successful teen events. Westmoreland’s director reported about 1,200 patrons for October, an expanding teen and adult program slate and a retirement event for outgoing director Phyllis.
Millersville, Portland and Red River Regional representatives described strong October program counts, blessing/food boxes for community members and successful fundraising. Millersville emphasized being open on Veterans Day to help patrons access online services; Portland noted a silent auction fundraiser and a food-cart giveaway that proved popular.
Directors also raised operational items: how to submit agenda items for future meetings, ensuring meeting dates coincide with library open days so staff can attend, and scheduling staff training days. The chair and staff said they would provide clearer guidance and circulate the updated calendar.
