Yankton School Board files final tax-levy request with county; capital outlay number finalized

The Yankton School District 63-3 board voted to file its final tax-levy request with the county after the district's business manager explained the only change from the preliminary levy was the finalized capital outlay amount.

Shreen told trustees, "This is just the only difference is our capital outlay because it always, they have a preliminary one when we approved it the last board meeting. This is just now our in September. This is now just the final number for the capital outlay". The board moved to approve the tax-levy request as presented in writing on the agenda (motion SEG 556, second SEG 558) and approved it by roll-call vote with all members voting yes.

The action instructs district staff to file the final levy with the county per the written request on the agenda; the board did not change the levy rate or other levy components during the meeting. The business manager characterized the change as an administrative finalization rather than a policy shift.
