Columbiana manager urges review of food-truck permitting; council members volunteer to help
Summary
City Manager Lance said Nov. 4 the city should revisit food truck permitting rules adopted about seven to eight years ago. Council members volunteered to join a review, and staff offered to provide a report or form a committee to recommend updates.
City Manager Lance told the council Nov. 4 the city’s food truck permitting rules, adopted roughly seven to eight years ago, should be revisited to reflect lessons learned.
“We’ve been asked to relook at those,” Lance said, offering that staff — including Bryce and Mark — could provide recommended changes or the council could form a committee to review the code and permitting procedures.
Several council members volunteered to participate. One council member said, “I’d be happy to be involved in the food truck conversation, whether it's a whole committee or just joining,” and another said they would “do the food truck thing again,” signaling enough interest to pursue a committee or staff report.
No formal ordinance or policy change was adopted at the Nov. 4 meeting; staff said they would return with written recommendations or a committee report.
