The Germantown Public Works and Highway Committee voted Nov. 5 to advance a joint application with the town of Jackson for an ARIP reconstruction grant for Pioneer Road.
Staff said Pioneer Road is rated in poor condition and that partnering with Jackson would avoid using a segment of Cedar Lane that has a higher road rating and might hurt grant scoring. Under the plan explained to the committee, the total project would be funded 90% by the grant and 10% by municipalities; the village's estimated municipal share would be about $52,500 (half of the roughly $105,000 local match split with Jackson). "With your blessing, we would proceed with this application where the town of Jackson would actually take the lead, and we would be secondary on the application," staff said.
Committee members asked about total length (staff said Germantown's share is roughly one mile of a two-mile corridor) and whether recent ARIP success would affect chances; staff answered that the published criteria do not explicitly preclude back-to-back awards but acknowledged it might be a factor and noted Jackson did not receive prior awards.
A motion to approve the joint application was made and seconded; the committee voted in favor.
