Assistant Superintendent Chris Parker and Stacy Williams updated the Pickens County Board of Education on Feb. 13 on three active construction projects.
Agriscience facility: Williams said recent rain delayed plumbing and a scheduled foundation pour; the site will receive a second compaction test and the prefab building is scheduled for late March with completion expected in the fourth week of May. The project will include an asphalt parking lot and a facade consistent with other campus buildings.
Track renovations: Work on the home‑side drainage and demolition has begun, and crews have poured a slab behind visitor bleachers while preparing to add an eighth lane to the track. Williams said the bleacher move is a multi‑day operation and the team expects most heavy work to be complete before graduation, with the final track surface and painting to follow.
High‑school phase 2: Night‑shift crews are replacing 88 heat‑exchange units and performing evening painting, fire alarm pulls and bathroom flooring in stages. Williams said full renovation steps (partitions and final fixtures) will continue later, with the project intended to be substantially complete by July 23, with punch‑list work when teachers return.
Board members asked no substantive follow‑up questions on the construction reports during the meeting. The operations team distributed classroom safety flip charts and noted continued planning meetings to coordinate construction and school operations.
