GROSSE ILE — The Grosse Ile Nature Conservancy and the township’s environmental‑science students provided a roster of upcoming public programs and brief reports on in‑school work.
Mandy of the Conservancy outlined events: the Conservancy annual meeting at Grosse Ile Golf & Country Club on Saturday, Nov. 8 (doors 10 a.m., meeting 10:30 a.m.), a “winner is for the birds” program at Wild Birds Unlimited, and an evening lantern hike intended to showcase nocturnal activity. The Conservancy also listed December programs about animal tracks and birds and holiday traditions.
A student speaker reported that the environmental science class has been picking up trash around the school, cataloging native trees and plants, and maintaining the rain garden in front of the school. The class is looking for other rain‑garden sites on school property.
The Conservancy’s programs are open to the public and the committee encouraged members of the public interested in habitat and conservation work to attend.
