The commission approved a lease with Community Action for the county-owned "Red Building," which will support Community Action’s warming-center operations and related services.

County staff said the lease was tailored to local needs and addressed the commission’s concerns. "It was not, like, just a standard document. It really worked for us," a commissioner said, thanking county staff and Community Action. The lease was described as supportive of the warming-center effort that is due to open in about two weeks.

Commissioners and staff also used the occasion to urge donations and volunteers for Community Action and other local food pantries. A commissioner noted the warming center would operate through the holiday season and encouraged volunteer sign-ups into January and February.

A motion to approve Item 18 passed by voice vote; no additional county appropriation was specified at the meeting.
