The Westmont Village Board on Oct. 30 approved routine and quasi-judicial items during new business and then voted to enter executive session to review minutes.
Consent agenda: Village Manager Gunther presented the consent agenda, which included approval of board meeting minutes from Oct. 16, Finance Ordinance No. 22 in the amount of $2,167,724.56 and a single purchase-order addition of $42,955 for additional fall trees (an addition to a previously approved $25,000 purchase order). Manager Gunther reported the combined dollar amount for the consent items and purchase orders at $2,210,679.56. Trustee Linda Little moved to approve the consent agenda; Trustee Bob Plowman seconded. By roll call trustees voted in favor (Trustees Little, Plowman, Parker, Guzzo, Perrelli and Scales voting yes). The motion passed.
Police Pension Board: The board considered reappointing Larry Babiar to the Police Pension Board. The finance director said Babiar has served on the pension board for the past decade and currently serves as its president and expressed appreciation for his continued service. Trustee Johanna Guzzo moved to reappoint Babiar; Trustee Scales seconded. The board approved the reappointment by roll call (unanimous among those voting), and Babiar will continue on the Police Pension Board.
Lot-coverage variance — 31 S. Grant St.: The board considered a request from Ellen Bomba and Eugene Hong for a zoning variance in the R-3 single-family district to allow a 330-square-foot patio. Staff said the proposed patio would increase lot coverage from an existing 37.2% to 40.8% where the standard maximum is 35%. Planning & Zoning recommended approval by a 4–2 vote subject to the condition that the patio meet permeable-surface standards (a deeper gravel base to promote infiltration). Trustee Little moved to approve the variance; Trustee Scales seconded. The board approved the variance by roll call.
Executive session: The mayor requested a brief executive session to review executive-session minutes pursuant to Section 2(c)(21) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act. A motion to enter executive session passed on roll call (motion seconded by Trustee Scales), and the public meeting was adjourned to executive session.
