Union County staff asked the Board of Commissioners to approve capital funds to asphalt the former highway department yard and to purchase a 72-inch dual hydraulic-angle snowplow attachment.

A presenter said the highway building is being removed and the county proposes paving the adjacent lot and parking area so it can be used for county operations. One board member said the asphalt work would cost about $40,000 for the area being considered.

Staff also described a 72-inch dual hydraulic-angle snowplow attachment to be mounted on county equipment to clear the park and track areas. Presenters said the snowplow could likely be purchased within existing departmental budgets this year but placed the item on the capital list so the board could consider it during budget deliberations.

No formal vote occurred during the session; the items will be considered in the upcoming budget decisions.
