Alamo Heights ISD opens visitor-side athletic complex funded by 2023 bond

Alamo Heights Independent School District opened improvements to the visitor side of Harry B. Borrome Stadium this season, district staff said, work paid for by the district2023 bond election.

Coach Fox, a coach with Alamo Heights Independent School District, said the project replaced bleachers that were originally built in 1947. "The bleachers were built in 1947, the old ones, and so we have an upgrade to new bleachers," Coach Fox said. He added that the new design has opened an area underneath the bleachers "so that teams can use it for whenever they come for their ... fans to have concession stand, go to the restrooms. We'll be able to use it during track whenever we host track meets for the teams to be under there to get some rest and recovery."

On the north side of the complex, Coach Fox said there is a building that will house golf simulators and a DAP room, and that the area "has concessions and an awesome team room that has pull out bleachers." On the south side, he said, a building contains restrooms and "a visitor's locker room."

Coach Fox called the complex "a great source of pride for our athletes and for our community," and said home games this year "have been well attended." He and district staff reported receiving positive feedback from attendees and visiting teams, whom Coach Fox said "have all volunteered to come back every year."

A district staff member said the district plans to continue sharing bond updates "regularly with our Alamo Heights ISD community, including online, on social media, on our website, and through my monthly messages." The staff member thanked the community for its support as the district continues to implement bond-funded facility projects.
