The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors convened a special meeting at 4:00 p.m. and moved into closed session to discuss anticipated litigation, a staff member read aloud.
The announcement of the closed session was read into the record before the board took public comment. "It's the intention of the board of supervisors to meet in closed session to discuss the anticipated litigation," a staff member said. No members of the public offered comment either in person or via Zoom, and the board proceeded into closed session.
Upon return, Vice Chair Wilson reported, "There's no reportable action on item c 1." The special meeting was then adjourned.
The board did not provide additional details about the litigation during the public portion of the meeting. Under common practice, closed sessions about anticipated litigation are held under state law procedures that permit discussion in private; the board's public report was limited to whether any reportable action occurred.
Meeting business at this special session was limited to the closed-session item; no motions, votes, or other agenda actions were taken in open session that resulted in a public record of action related to the closed-session discussion.
