Superintendent Erskine Glover delivered an extended report and farewell address at the Hillside Board of Education meeting on Oct. 30, his last meeting in an official capacity as superintendent.
Glover outlined district priorities including student outcomes, wellness, operational excellence, partnerships and recruiting and retaining certified staff. He praised recent reentry work for students returning after traumatic events and thanked educators who supported those efforts.
As required by New Jersey law, Glover presented the district harassment, intimidation and bullying (HIB) report for the period Jan. 2025 through June 2025. He said the district reported 17 HIB incidents across seven schools during that period: 6 were founded, 6 unfounded, 3 inconclusive and 2 with partial findings. He emphasized that the HIB count reflects reported and submitted incidents under the statutory definition and does not necessarily capture every conflict or classroom disagreement.
Glover also highlighted attendance and academic targets, noting strong elementary attendance rates in the high 90s and outlining expectations for reading practice, grade-level progression and performance targets for NJSLA and algebra I students. He credited partnerships, the Leader in Me program and technology initiatives for student engagement.
Board members thanked Glover for five years of service. Vice President Horton Givens and other officers presented a commemorative plaque noting his leadership from 2021 through 2025 and offered public remarks of appreciation.
