During the public‑comment period at the Oct. 29 meeting, two community members raised concerns about local institutions and traffic enforcement.
Bobby Daniel, chair of the Orting Senior Center board, told the council the board had "observed various negative comments by [boarding] elected officials concerning our organization" on social media and warned such misinformation could harm the center’s reputation and funding. Daniel said the center has an "open door policy" and offered to provide information to council to correct misinformation.
Emily Anderson, identifying herself as an Orting resident, spoke about Vision Zero and Safe Streets initiatives, expressing opposition to camera‑based enforcement and automated in‑vehicle speed‑control systems. Anderson referenced recent state legislation on excessive speeding and said requiring intelligent speed‑assistant devices in vehicles and broad camera enforcement raised privacy and oversight concerns.
Council did not take action on these public comments at the meeting; the remarks were entered for the record and council members heard the concerns as part of public testimony.
