At a meeting of the Infrastructure and Public Works committee, members voted to move $265,000 that county staff had fronted for two contracts related to the courthouse flood back into the unallocated capital fund.
Jessica, a staff member, told the committee that the county had fronted the money to pay contractors so repairs could proceed quickly after the flood and that the first installment of the insurance claim had been received. "This is just a request to be able to put the 265,000 that we fronted in order to cover 2 contracts," Jessica said. She described the payment received as the "first installment of the insurance claim, which is actual cash value."
The chair moved to receive the supporting document and said the transfer would be placed on the next Budget Board meeting in November. A committee member formally moved to transfer the $265,000 from the county courthouse flood fund to the unallocated fund; a second was recorded and the motion was approved by voice vote.
The committee did not record a roll-call vote or an exact tally in the transcript. No amendments or conditions were placed on the transfer during the discussion.
The item will appear on the November Budget Board agenda for final accounting adjustments and formal recording of the transfer.
