The Lake County Watershed Protection District Board of Directors approved two joint funding agreements with the U.S. Geological Survey for stream monitoring in Kelsey and Clover creeks and authorized the Water Resources Director to sign. The contracts were approved as presented on a 4-0 vote.
Water Resources Director Juan Oparje told the board the item was on the consent agenda but required a small correction to the staff memo. "So we have this in the consent agenda, but, there is, like, a small change to it," Oparje said, and clarified that one agreement — for Kelsey Creek — will be funded from district funds in the amount of $20,710, while the other agreement, for $54,780, will be paid from a Department of Water Resources (DWR) grant.
An unnamed supervisor asked whether the change altered what the board was being asked to approve or simply clarified the memo; Oparje replied it was only a clarification. The chair opened the item for public comment and reported none on Zoom or in chambers. A board member moved to approve the agreements and authorize the Water Resources Director to sign; another member seconded the motion.
The board adopted the motion by a 4-0 vote. The meeting transcript records the final tally as "That motion carries 4 0 0." No additional conditions, amendments, or follow-up tasks were recorded in the transcript for this item.
The agreements are joint funding arrangements with the U.S. Geological Survey, a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Interior, to support stream monitoring work in Kelsey and Clover creeks. The total not-to-exceed amount for both agreements is $75,490, split as described by staff during the meeting.
