The commission approved the final plat for Hudson Estates, a proposed 60-unit single‑story apartment community on about 15.27 acres. Staff found utilities and stormwater plans adequate, preserved a tree line buffer, and noted more than 40% open space. The item will go to City Council on Nov. 3.
The Planning Commission voted Oct. 27 to approve the final plat for Hudson Estates of Blue Springs, a proposed 60‑unit, single‑story apartment community on about 15.27 acres east of 7 Highway and south of Corto Mason Elementary School.
Assistant Director Nick Hutchison summarized staff’s review: the plat creates two lots for the apartment development, dedicates Southwest Hudson Drive as a public street with a temporary cul‑de‑sac and preserves the existing tree line along the southern boundary to satisfy landscape buffer requirements. Staff said stormwater detention, sanitary sewer and water services have been reviewed and found adequate, and that the proposal provides about 6.61 acres of open space — exceeding the minimum open‑space requirement and providing required active open space. The commission approved the final plat with the staff’s conditions; staff will forward the recommendation to City Council on Nov. 3.
Kyle Miller of Crockett Engineering was present for applicant questions and said engineering questions could be answered during council review.
