The Hoffman Estates Fire Department opened Station 23 and Station 24 to the public for its annual open-house events, offering demonstrations, equipment displays and children’s activities. The events are intended to familiarize residents with firefighting operations and fire-safety measures.
Staff described a live-fire demonstration that compared protected (sprinklered) and unprotected scenarios, with crews showing tactics to control flames and prevent spread. “Today, we're gonna be doing our live fire demonstration with our protected and unprotected with sprinklers,” a fire department representative said. Vehicles on display ranged from modern apparatus to an antique fire engine; vendors and partner agencies provided informational tables and giveaways.
Fire officials thanked village leaders and the community for their support and encouraged residents to attend future open houses. No policy actions or budget decisions were made at the events; they focused on outreach and public education.
