Council approves two downtown event permits: side‑by‑side ride and food‑truck weekend

The LaSalle City Council granted two special‑event permits during the meeting: one for a side‑by‑side/UTV parade planned for Saturday, Nov. 15, and another for a downtown food‑truck event set for Nov. 28–29.

Andrew Lamboli described plans for the Nov. 15 ride, which would use city‑owned parking lots (including the Veterans Memorial Pool and parking adjacent to the pickleball courts at Hegler Park) for staging and would travel down First Street and out Route 6 to the celebration lights, with a planned sign‑in from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and a scheduled departure at about 6:45 p.m. Lamboli said he had made arrangements with police and would require proof of insurance at sign‑in; he estimated roughly 20–40 vehicles and said he had received several reservations and community interest. The council approved the permit with police supervision; staff confirmed the chief had been consulted.

Stephanie Baez requested permission to operate a food truck in front of 552 First Street from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, and Saturday, Nov. 29, to coincide with downtown Black Friday and Small Business Saturday promotions. The council recorded its approval; staff said the applicant had completed the required materials and the event had previously run successfully in the city.

Both approvals include a requirement for police oversight or coordination and proof of insurance on the day of the event, as discussed during the meeting.
