April Norton, the county housing director, reported to the Board of County Commissioners that 111 new affordable and workforce homes came online in the previous year and that the county’s compliance team completed compliance checks on more than 1,000 units in 2024.
Norton said the 1,000-plus compliance completions represent meaningful growth: the department completed fewer than 500 compliance checks in 2017. She told commissioners the new units provide “safe, stable housing for people in our community” and that the compliance workload has increased commensurately.
Norton also said she will return to the commissioners next week with an agenda item for a proposed affordable workforce housing development at 90 Virginia Lane. Commissioners had no questions on the summary report during the voucher meeting.
No formal actions were taken at the voucher meeting on housing items; the 90 Virginia Lane project will be placed on a future agenda for deliberation and any public hearing as required.
