The Imperial County Board of Supervisors voted Oct. 28 to adopt plans and specifications and authorize public bidding for the Imperial Town Site Roadway Improvement Project Phase 1, a pavement rehabilitation package that county staff estimated at $2,951,000.
Deputy Director of Engineering Veronica Tondo presented the project scope, describing about 4.04 miles of roadway work that will include grinding of existing pavement, crack sealing, a leveling course and an ARAM layer designed to improve performance where irrigation has damaged residential streets.
Tondo told the board the estimate for the work was $2,951,000 and that the presentation included a map and list of the affected roads. The board approved a motion to proceed; Supervisor Martha Cardenas Singh moved the motion and Supervisor Jesus Escobar seconded. The clerk called the vote and the motion passed.
Why it matters: The project is intended to address roadway conditions in the Imperial Town Site area through a phased repaving strategy and will proceed to the formal public-bid process after the county’s adoption of plans and specifications.
Clarifying details from the meeting:

- Estimated construction cost: $2,951,000 (county estimate presented on Oct. 28).
