The City of Grand Prairie Planning and Zoning Commission on Jan. 27 approved a specific-use permit (SUP-25-001) for a 4,532-square-foot self-serve laundromat at 425 S. Belsang.
Staff (Steph) described the proposed business as a neighborhood laundromat with roughly 40–50 washers and dryers, a small lobby area with seating and TVs, vending machines and a security system with a minimum of 32 cameras. The applicant plans to operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with the last wash beginning at 9 p.m., and to maintain a minimum of one employee on duty for most hours and two to three staff during peak periods.
Applicant Nasser Nayeb, who identified himself as the building owner and an operator with several locations, spoke in support. Commissioners noted one opposition letter from Avian Village but said no substantive comments were included in the submission. Commissioner Janie Adakari, whose district includes the site, moved to close the public hearing and approve the SUP; Commissioner Ty Chapman seconded. The motion carried as recorded by the commission.
Staff recommended approval and the Development Review Committee supported the request. Commissioners highlighted community benefits of having a laundromat in that area and noted the applicant’s outreach to neighbors during the application process.
