Topgolf is building a two-level entertainment venue near State Highway 161 and Mayfield Road in Grand Prairie’s Epic Central Entertainment District and expects to open the facility in late 2025, event speakers and a company representative said at a ceremonial groundbreaking Friday.
The project will feature 80 outdoor, climate-controlled hitting bays, a full-service bar and restaurant and is projected to employ up to 300 people, according to remarks made at the ceremony. The city staged the ceremonial ‘‘tee shot’’ as part of the traditional groundbreaking.
An unnamed event speaker at the ceremony described the project as part of broader development in the area and noted the public celebration. ‘‘On Friday, the city got into the swing of things by adding a tee shot to the traditional groundbreaking ceremony,’’ the speaker said.
A separate speaker emphasized the role of private investment in local growth, saying, "At the end of the day, cities have to have developers willing to risk. Let me underscore that. Risk. Businesses are going out of business every day, folks. They have to be willing to risk their own capital and believe in your city." That remark came during the event’s formal remarks on the significance of the investment.
A Topgolf representative described the company’s approach to entertainment and its fit for the site, saying, "At Topgolf, we like to say we are the instigators of play. That's really what it's all about at ... Topgolf. We're the instigators of play. And because we're so close to this great epic center epic central, which is, of course, another instigator of play, I think it's a perfect match for us here in the metroplex."
Event remarks included the company statement that Topgolf Grand Prairie is set to open in late 2025. No formal council vote or permitting action was recorded in the meeting transcript provided; the ceremony marked the start of construction or sitework rather than a legislative decision.
Details about project financing, construction timeline beyond the expected late-2025 opening, and permitting milestones were not specified in the transcript.
