City economic development staff told the board on Jan. 2 that Anna has been accepted as a member of the Brew City Texas program, a member-driven organization that promotes craft-beer communities.

"The membership can be operating breweries, so it's not just cities, it's other breweries and it's other retailers," Economic Development Manager Selena Tittle said. She said Anna will receive logo signage in January and a city page on the Brew City Texas website listing local craft-beer destinations and resources.

Staff said the designation is intended to promote tourism and support the local craft-beer destination that has opened in Anna. When signage arrives, staff plan to present it to city council and include the designation in the monthly newsletter and social media. Staff also said Brew City Texas will promote festivals and events run by member communities.

EDC staff credited Selena for leading the application and volunteered to provide details on external publication outlets upon request. No formal action or incentives for breweries were discussed in the meeting record.
