The California State Assembly on Tuesday adopted its second-day consent calendar by recorded vote and added 50 co‑authors to Assembly Concurrent Resolution 26 (Casa Appreciation Day). The clerk recorded the consent calendar vote as 56 ayes, 0 no votes.
Clerk proceedings opened the roll to allow members to add co‑authors to ACR 26; after the clerk closed the roll the body recorded that 50 members had been added as co‑authors. The consent calendar as read included Assembly Concurrent Resolution 26 and several Senate concurrent resolutions (Senate Concurrent Resolutions 5, 8, 9, 13 and 14). The clerk reported the recorded vote on the consent calendar as “Ayes 56, no 0.”
Later in the session, the presiding officer announced the consent calendar would be rescinded and expunged from the journal and then taken up again; the clerk then read the consent calendar and the Assembly adopted it by voice vote. The record reflects the procedural steps to remove the earlier entry and re-adopt the items on the calendar.
The floor also considered adjournments in memory during the session. Assemblymember Macedo and Assemblymember Tongypa offered remarks to adjourn in memory of Kings County Fire Captain Mark Eads, who died Feb. 1 while on duty; those adjournments were entered for the journal.
When the Assembly concluded business, Assistant Majority Leader Garcia moved and Mr. Flores seconded a motion that the House stand adjourned until Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m.; the motion was adopted and the Assembly adjourned. The clerk lifted the quorum call and the session ended with the prescribed adjournment time set.
The actions taken Tuesday were procedural and involved no substantive floor debate on the measures themselves; the consent calendar is typically used to approve noncontroversial resolutions and measures without extended discussion. The Assembly will resume floor session on Feb. 18 at 1 p.m.
