Acting Chair Hope Williams and the three-member San Francisco Local Agency Formation Commission unanimously appointed policy analyst Khaled Samari as acting executive officer at the commission’s regular meeting on March 17, 2025.
The appointment comes after longtime executive officer Jeremy Pollock resigned at the end of last year and moved to the Department of Technology. The commission opened the meeting’s agenda item noting that it must begin a formal process to find a permanent replacement and that Samari would serve in the interim.
Commissioner Connie Chan moved to appoint Samari, and Commissioner Isaac Sevier seconded the motion. The clerk recorded three ayes and no nays or abstentions. “There are 3 ayes,” the clerk said after roll call.
Inder Khalsa, legal counsel to the commission, praised Pollock’s service and expressed support for the interim appointment. “I just want to first thank our executive officer, Pollock, for all his work with LAFCO. It’s really good to see that he remain in city government,” Khalsa said, and he added that he was “pleased to see” Samari willing to take on the role.
There were no public speakers on the appointment during the meeting. The commission did not set a public timeline in the meeting record for the recruitment of a permanent executive officer.
The commission’s vote completed the formal appointment; Samari will serve as acting executive officer while the commission proceeds with its replacement process.
