The Murphy Planning and Zoning Commission elected Christine Johnson as chair, Destiny Bergeuse as vice chair and Beverly Gaither as secretary at a meeting that began at 6:00 p.m. The commission also approved minutes from its Dec. 16, 2024 meeting. Staff reported that proposed amendments to the city ordinances will go before the Murphy City Council on Feb. 4.

The commission opened with roll call, an administered oath of office for recently seated members and the pledge of allegiance. A staff member said the statement of officers had been administered before the meeting for Dawn Bryant, Beverly Gaither, Camille Hoover, Tricia Colbert, Amanda Turner and Amy Lawrence.

Nominations for chair, vice chair and secretary were made from the floor, each was seconded, and each motion was approved by voice vote. The minutes from Dec. 16, 2024, were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.

In a staff update, a staff member said the commission's previously approved proposed amendments to city ordinances will be placed on the Murphy City Council agenda on Feb. 4.
