The Cameron County Commissioners Court on Tuesday approved a long list of consent and action items, named representatives to regional boards, accepted consultant recommendations and authorized contract negotiations and settlements.
The court approved routine travel, budget amendments and claims, several engineering work authorizations for sidewalk projects, repairs to county-owned warehouse structures, equipment purchases, and personnel-policy updates. The court also authorized contract negotiations for the lease of approximately 44.23 acres at the Los Indios Free Trade International Bridge and ratified a series of legal-authority actions after executive session.
Several items were pulled from the consent agenda for separate votes. Work authorization No. 4 with LDG Enterprises for the Las Palmas sidewalk improvements (CSJ 921-6-327) was approved with an abstention recorded by Commissioner Joey Garza. Other pulled items, including a work authorization with Schaub Consulting for the El Mito sidewalk project (CSJ 921-6-326) and a job-order contract with Hunt & Associates for roof and structural repairs to a county warehouse, were approved without recorded opposition.
The court appointed Commissioner Anthony Lopez as Cameron County’s primary representative to the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council board and Commissioner Joey Garza as alternate. The court also reappointed the county’s existing Spaceport Development Corporation designees and appointed Sam Boswell as the precinct 3 representative to the Spaceport board.
The court accepted evaluation committee recommendations and authorized negotiations and contract preparations for the county’s hazard mitigation plan consultant (recommended firm H2O) and for technical supervision and maintenance of breath-alcohol test equipment under Texas Administrative Code Title 37, Chapter 19; those awards were approved subject to contract negotiations. The court also authorized the civil legal division to provide legal defense or representation in multiple pending civil matters as identified in executive session.
Motion outcomes and voting notes were recorded in the meeting minutes and are summarized below.
