Jennifer Buller, the city’s code enforcement supervisor, gave the Magnolia CRA advisory committee an update on active enforcement cases in CRA neighborhoods.
Buller said 238 Northwest Eighth Place is scheduled for another hearing on March 13; a compliance date of March 6 was noted and the case involves derelict vehicles and unsightly conditions. She said 122 Northwest Seventeenth Place was cited for overgrowth, the city cut and cleaned the property and a lien has been placed on the parcel.
Buller said 837 Northwest Fourth Avenue is under active enforcement for derelict vehicles and unsightly matter and will proceed to hearing if the property is not brought into compliance. She said 1807 North Magnolia still has unresolved violations and that daily fines are accruing at $200 per day. Buller said 819 Northwest Fourth Avenue has been brought into compliance and that the owner of 1711 Northwest Third Avenue has contacted staff seeking assistance.
A resident asked Buller about enforcement along Northwest Eighth Place where, he said, parts and derelict vehicles had been placed in the public right-of-way. Buller said staff first try to reach property owners to clarify what is permitted and that, if voluntary compliance does not occur, the city can remove vehicles and tow them.
Ending: Buller said staff will continue to pursue hearings and abatement as required and that committee members may provide additional addresses for staff to investigate.
