The Muskogee Public Schools Board of Education on Tuesday approved a revision to the 2024–25 district calendar to make up two of five inclement-weather days.
District staff told the board that the district experienced five days of inclement-weather closures and that a review of instructional minutes showed only two days needed to be restored. The district surveyed faculty and staff on options for makeup time; a majority of respondents selected to convert late runoff days to full instructional days near the end of the school year.
The board-approved revision adds student attendance days on May 23 and May 27, 2025, to replace two of the previously missed days, district staff said. Staff also said the district will hold a full instructional day tomorrow to recapture some time and that the earlier schedule includes built-in early-release days and other built-in makeup options.
A board member moved to approve the calendar revision, the motion received a second and passed by voice vote. No roll-call tally was recorded in the public transcript.
District staff acknowledged that attendance on the later, post–Memorial Day makeup day could be challenging for some families but said the decision followed the staff survey results.
