The Margate Community Redevelopment Agency on March 12 approved a resolution waiving bidding requirements and awarding two contracts for improvements at Coral Gate Park.
The resolution authorizes an award for replacement of fencing fabric to Kaba Construction Inc. and the resurfacing of tennis, pickleball and basketball courts to Fast Strike Courts Inc. Staff described the item as two separate contracts: one contractor to replace fence fabric and a second contractor to perform the court resurfacing.
Board discussion identified that the fence fabric proposal appeared less formal in the packet materials (handwritten pricing) and staff clarified the scope is limited to fabric replacement based on measured fence length and height, while the court resurfacing includes surface work for tennis, pickleball and basketball courts. Commissioners asked for clarification that the award covered two distinct scopes and two vendors; staff confirmed the separation.
The board approved the resolution by roll call. Board Members Schwartz, Serio, Simone, Vice Chair Rosano and Chair Casciano each voted yes.
Staff and the CRA will execute contracts with the two vendors and proceed with the Coral Gate Park scope as described in the resolution. The resolution includes a standard effective date and directs staff to finalize contracting consistent with the approved scope and limited waiver of bidding requirements.
