Saratoga Springs officials said they will seek authorization to purchase a Chevrolet Equinox EV to replace an aging 2007 Chevrolet Impala in the Building Department and to install two electric-vehicle charging stations at the City Center garage.
Mike Dutry, the city's administrator for preservation, open space and historic preservation, told the council that the city applied for and secured a $50,000 award from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Clean Energy Communities program to cover the purchase. Dutry said the funding is one-time and match-free. The mayor said the purchase will be made through De Neuer Chevrolet.
Council members also discussed a separate agenda item to authorize an $11,103 contract with Plug In Stations to install two charging stations at the city center garage. Staff said those chargers will serve city-owned vehicles and that National Grid will reimburse the cost through the grant program. The council noted the fleet charger and nearby parking will make charging available for staff and prevent competition with resident parking.
No final authorization votes were recorded during this meeting; both purchase and installation agreements were listed on the agenda for council consideration at the next session.
