Committee members and Town of Addison officials briefed the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on April 21 about a proposed boundary adjustment on the Dallas‑Addison border intended to transfer local maintenance and service responsibilities without changing Dallas city territory.
Becky Devaney, director of public works for the Town of Addison, said Addison would provide increased enforcement and infrastructure investment in the affected area, including sidewalk upgrades, underground utility work, multimodal improvements and signal replacement. Committee members described the proposal as a collaborative, intercity agreement intended to improve roadway conditions and public safety at a border corridor.
Council members asked about street condition, traffic signals and public-safety response in the area; Devaney said Addison expects to add police presence and to pursue holistic roadway redesign to narrow lanes, add medians and improve multimodal access. The committee chair confirmed the item will be placed on the full City Council agenda for a Wednesday vote.
What’s next: The full City Council will consider the boundary-adjustment request at its next meeting; committee staff will proceed with city‑attorney review to prepare final documents.
