“AB 7 64, which seeks to add mute swans to the list of exotic non game birds that can be legally managed, allowing us to better control their populations in California,” Gonzalez said on the floor, characterizing the measure as a step to protect native biodiversity. He noted committee support and asked for an Aye vote. During questions, Assemblymember Rogers asked a lighthearted question: “Which lobby group speaks for the mute swans?” The author replied in jest that “it's the speaking lobby group that speaks for the mute swans,” and Rogers said he was convinced and proud to support the bill.

After the clerk closed the roll the clerk reported: Ayes 64, Noes 0. The measure passed the Assembly as recorded in the session transcript.
