Emergency services honored Michelle, a 22-year telecommunicator and NCIC coordinator, as the Caroline County Telecommunicator of the Year; she is the eighth recipient of the award and one of 16–17 full-time telecommunicators in the county.
Caroline County Emergency Services presented its 2025 Telecommunicator of the Year award to Michelle during the April 22 Board of Commissioners meeting.
Steve Herlock, communications division chief with the Department of Emergency Services, introduced Michelle and praised her 21+ years of service. Herlock said Michelle "has been a dedicated employee for over 21 years" and noted she has served as acting shift supervisor multiple times, acts as the NCIC coordinator and attends training opportunities regularly. Herlock said Michelle was the eighth recipient of the county’s telecommunicator award and that the county’s communications team has 16 to 17 full-time telecommunicators and two part-time staff.
Michelle briefly acknowledged her tenure and the changes she’s seen in technology and operations since joining in January 2003. The board and attendees thanked her for her service and posed for a group photo following the presentation.
The presentation was ceremonial; no formal action was required.
